Frequenty Asked Questions

We understand that planning a wedding and choosing your beauty team can be overwhelming. We at Hair and Makeup by Kelly are here to make this a smooth, stress-free process for you.

I WANT TO BOOK! What do I do now?

Congratulations on making this huge decision! The booking process begins with Kelly sending you a contract for you to review. The contract will outline all the important details including pricing, number of services required, location, start and finish times, additional costs and mileage. Upon booking, the bride’s cost of services is due. This will depend on what package is chosen by the bride and any additions like hair extensions, mileage etc.

Do I have to know exactly how many services are required at the time of booking?

It is definitely preferable to have this discussion with the bridal party far in advance. This will save everyone time and stress and is very important for planning timelines with hair, makeup and photographers. Kelly requires a minimum of 4 services for weekend dates and no cancellations without full payment can happen within a 90 day window from the wedding. Timelines on wedding days are tight and although not guaranteed, last minute services can be added if time allows. We don’t want anyone regretting not having their hair or makeup professionally done.

Where should I get ready?

Most bridal parties choose to get ready either in their home, a family member’s home, in a hotel suite or at the venue. Before making your final decision, think about the size of your bridal party. If it is larger (more than 4) it is a very good idea to ask the venue about additional space they may have for getting ready. Also consider booking a party room at the hotel so that multiple hair and makeup artists can work simultaneously. Sometimes lighting, space and electrical outlets are not available or in practical places in hotel rooms. This is definitely a chat you can have with your artist.

How long will beauty services take?

Kelly usually schedules for 1 hour per service. Hair for the bride may take longer depending on the style requested. This is something Kelly and the bride will discuss far in advance. Usually, due to time constraints, Kelly cannot accommodate very fancy formal hair styles like glamour waves for bridesmaids or mothers. Start times earlier than 7 am will include an early start fee of $75 per artist.

What if somebody gets sick?

If kelly gets sick, it will be the bride’s discretion whether or not she will permit Kelly to work. Working with a mask is always possible if requested. If bridal party members or the bride are sick or test positive for Covid-19, Kelly reserves the right to refuse services on those members who are ill. If Kelly is unable to work due to serious illness, she will do her best to find a replacement at equal payment. If no replacement is possible to find, full refund for day-of services will be given.

I want to do a trial for my hair and makeup. When should I book this?

We always recommend booking your trial within a month of two of your wedding. This will ensure your hair is relatively the same condition or your skin tone is somewhat the same due to the seasons and sun exposure. It’s always nice to book your hair and makeup trial for a special event like a shower or a bachelorette party. Something to think about!

When is final payment due?

Final payment of all services is due 1 week prior to the wedding. This date will be specified in the contract. Payment can be made by e-transfer or cash.
